Two Palestinians are the first fatalities in the West Bank after Israeli shooting in Jenin

Palestinian media indicate that Hushiya was at least a member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, and his body was wrapped in the group’s flag before his funeral.

The Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and Islamic Jihad issued separate statements saying their men opened fire on Israeli soldiers in the area.

Eyewitnesses quoted in Palestinian media said that the soldiers stormed the village and besieged several houses, while other soldiers positioned themselves on the roofs of tall buildings, before clashes with Palestinian gunmen broke out.

Since March 2022, the Israeli army has carried out almost daily raids on Palestinian towns, specifically in the northern West Bank areas of Nablus and Jenin.

Dubbed Operation “Breaking the Wave”, the Army intensified these raids after a series of attacks carried out by Palestinians, which in all of 2022 killed 29 people on the Israeli side.
