Vladimir Putin was mocked for wearing too big heels during an official visit.

The Kremlin chief, who is estimated to be 5ft 7in (1.75m) tall, wore the super soles to pose with a group of youths at Moscow State University on Russian Students’ Day.

Mr Putin, 70, has been spotted sporting such heels for years, but it’s thought to be the biggest yet.

One cheerful social media user commented: “The president of Russia – a man so insecure and self-obsessed that he wears heels.

“And to make him look even taller, have him stand next to you for shorter students.”

Meanwhile, Russian forces in Ukraine have launched another widespread round of missile and drone strikes.

Kiev mayor Vitali Klitschko said one person was killed in an attack, the first death in the capital since New Year’s Eve, and two were injured.

City chief Serhii Popko said the air defense had shot down 15 cruise missiles.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expects Moscow’s troops to launch a major spring offensive within weeks.

Britain is donating 14 Challenger 2 tanks to repel the invaders and will teach Ukrainian troops how to use and repair them next week.

Defense Secretary Alex Chalk told MPs the vehicles should arrive at their new homes “at the end of March” after the “really important” training programme.

Germany and the US have also agreed to send dozens of tanks, but Zelensky has asked for more, saying he needs at least 300 to defeat Russia.
