A small dog decided to challenge a shark to a fight – and won.
Stunning footage shows British and American tourists screaming as a dog pounces on a 10-foot hammerhead shark during a boat trip in the Bahamas.
Despite the food chain, the dog managed to drive the shark away from the boat, sending it swimming back out to sea.
People begged the dog to “go away” and “stop” while the pup was beating the sea monster.
The pair hit each other in the water – and to everyone’s surprise, the dog walked away victorious.
A man is heard to say, “I don’t think the shark will mess with him!”
The dog proudly sauntered off to the tourists’ applause and cries of “good boy!”
Someone asked, “How did he get away with that?”
The shark came out from under the boat on Wednesday during an Exuma Water Sports tour of the southern Bahamas.
Rebecca Lightbourn, the company’s reservations manager, said the black and tan dog always runs along the shore to greet the boat as it passes this island.
However, it is the first time he has been submerged.
“I think this time the dog decided he wanted to protect his home or play in the water with a really big fish, so he went after him,” Lightbourn said.
Speaking to Today, she said the dog, nicknamed “Rufus,” is a Bahamian potcake and belongs to a janitor on the private island.
She confirmed that Rufus is “100% OK”.
