Young Colombian woman was shot dead by her police husband in Venezuela

Andrea Ortiz, 28 years old and a native of Santa Marta, was murdered on March 12 by her police husband in the state of Anzoátegui, in Venezuelaafter having told him that he did not want to continue their relationship and that he wanted to return to Colombia with his family, with whom he had not been since he was 13 years old.

According to versions of witnesses who spoke with the authorities, the victim was chatting with her husband when she told him her decision, which sparked a heated discussion.

He did not agree to the separation and would have taken out his staff weapon, yelled expletives at her and then shot her in the head.

Andrea Ortiz died immediately and her murderer proceeded to call the Bolivarian National Police and turn himself in at the scene.

The Venezuelan authorities transferred Andrea’s body to a morgue, where it rests while her relatives carry out the repatriation work.

The woman had an eight-year-old son with her husband and murderer. Andrea’s neighbors in the La Lucha neighborhood, in Santa Marta, are shocked and demand justice.
