Biden celebrates that NATO is “stronger than ever” after joining Finland

The president of USA, Joe Bidencelebrated this Tuesday the incorporation of Finland to the NATO and considered that the organization is today “stronger than ever” and is also “more united than ever” despite the attempt of the Russian president, Vladimir Putinto “divide” it with the invasion of Ukraine.

In a statement released by the White HouseBiden expressed his wish that Sweden also conclude its process to enter the NATO and encouraged Türkiye already Hungary to also complete theirs to enter the alliance “without delay”.

Finland became on Tuesday the thirty-first full member of the NATO after completing the entry process requested as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukrainewhich implies that the country is covered by article 5 of collective defense of the alliance.

Finland and Sweden asked to be part of the NATO in May 2022, although only the first has already completed the ratification process, the fastest in the organization’s history, as Biden recalled.

The US president pointed out that when putin released his “brutal assaultagainst the people of Ukraine “he thought he could divide Europe and the NATObut “I was wrong”.

“We are more united than ever, and together and strengthened with our new ally, Finlandwe will continue to preserve transatlantic security and defend every inch of the territory of the NATOhe stressed.
