Russia Warns Finland’s Entry Will Not Strengthen NATO

Russia warned today that the entry of Finland as a full member of the NATO will not strengthen the security of the allied bloc, while ensuring that those who think that Moscow will not react to such accession.

“Everything will be calibrated in line with the changing situation, its security will not be reinforced, the security of the Atlantic Alliance in general it will not be strengthened”said the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Riabkov in statements to Russian public television.

ryabkov expressed his incomprehension with the decision of neighboring Finland, which will double the border between Russia and the member countries of the NATOand accused his neighbors of falling prey to “Russophobia” and of being incapable of putting their interests before those of the “Collective West”.

In fact, he announced that his security – he also alluded to Sweden, which has not yet entered – “will weaken” after admission, since Moscow will be forced to take action, which will announce “in due time”.

“Any threat in our direction will be rejectedhe stressed.

The diplomat stressed that Russia has “military resources” and “political will” to defend its sovereignty and reject any threat against its territorial integrity.

In this regard, he stressed that by suspending the application of the last disarmament treaty with USAhe START III or new STARTMoscow has been given “additional possibilities” to ensure its own security.

He recalled that the doctrine of “nuclear deterrence” is still in force and alluded to the recent announcement of an agreement for the deployment in belarus of Russian tactical nuclear weapons.

“Our adversaries must realistically accept what is happening around them. Do not bet on an escalation, do not provoke us, since the thing can end with such turns…”he assured.

To describe relationships with USAused the word “collapse” and assured that Russia will not allow the West to manage to inflict a “strategic defeat” on it.

Previously, the Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoiguassured that the increase in Allied activity on the Russian borders, the supply of weapons to Ukraine and the Finnish entry into the NATO will carry “to an escalation of the conflict”.

In May 2022, the Russian President, Vladimir Putinensured that the Finnish and Swedish entry into the alliance would not represent “a direct threat” for the security of their country, unless it includes the deployment of weapons in their territories.
