Nicaragua regrets death of the former head of the electoral entity of Venezuela

The government of Nicaragua regretted this Wednesday the death of the former president of the National Electoral Council (CNE) of Venezuela and Minister of University Education, Tibisay Lucenawho for 14 years directed that electoral entity.

In these sad hours, we convey to you, as Head of State and Government, to the comrades of the PSUV, and to the dear Venezuelan people, our most sincere and fraternal condolences for the departure of sister Tibisay Lucena, whom we have loved and admired so much.”, pointed out the Nicaraguan Executive in a message addressed to the Venezuelan president, Nicolas Maduro.

In the message, signed by the president of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortegaand his wife, the vice president Rosario Murillothey recognized from Lucena “the bravery and brilliance of the noble people of (Simon) Bolivar(Hugo) chavezNicolás, who has known how to defend with such greatness of spirit the ideals, values ​​and purposes of national liberation, in joy, well-being and rights for all Venezuelan families”.

This Wednesday morning, the executive vice president, delcy rodriguezannounced, through a message on Twitter, the death of the minister, although he did not detail the causes of death.

Chavismo leaders, including President Nicolás Maduro, added their condolences for the death of Lucena and highlighted his contributions to democracy.

In June 2020, Lucena said goodbye to the CNE, after 14 years at the helm, during which he led 18 elections, some of them accused of fraudulent by the opposition and a part of the international community, such as the re-election of Maduro in 2018 and the vote for a National Constituent Assembly in 2017.

Since October 19, 2021, she held the position of Minister of University educationa role with which he led the recovery of the infrastructure of public universities, which in recent years suffered deterioration in the midst of the economic crisis.
