The concilor chavista Jose Atienza was murdered in the town siphons of the Amazonian state of Bolívar (south, bordering Brazil), informed this Wednesday the governor of that mining region, the pro-government Angel Marcano.
“How much I regret and repudiate the assassination of the leader of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and councilor Jose Atienza. I ask the security organizations to help clarify this fact and the full weight of the law to those responsible”, expressed the governor through the social network Instagram.

Marcano did not offer more details about the homicide, a fact that has not been reported by the police forces, the justice system or the Prosecutor’s Office.

Local media say that, on Tuesday night, the mayor was shot multiple times when he arrived at his residence, after realizing that he was being followed by a vehicle with unknown subjects on board.

Other leaders of the ruling party were assassinated in the last decade, among them the deputy from Caracas Robert Serra, who received several stab wounds at home; Mayor Marcos Tulio Carrillowho was killed with eight shots in front of his residence in Trujillo (west), and councilor Sherlley Guilartealso by shots in Aragua (north, close to Caracas).
