Al Qaeda reaffirms that it attacked a customs post in the extreme south of Mali

The Support Group for Islam and Muslims (GAIM), a subsidiary of Al Qaeda in the Sahel, claimed responsibility this Saturday for the attack perpetrated on April 13 against a customs post on the border between Mali and Burkina Faso, in which two Malians were murdered, including a policeman.

In a statement distributed by its propaganda arm Az-Zallaqa, to which EFE has had access, the group terrorist states that during the attack on the Heremakono post, in the southern Malian region of Sikasso, the terrorists seized two vehicles, two motorcycles, 10 AK-47 type rifles and ammunition.

Mali, with the presence of jihadist groups loyal to the Islamic State and Al Qaedasuffers from great insecurity, mainly in the center and north of its territory with numerous terrorist attacks against military and civilians.

On April 6, GAIM attacked a checkpoint some 70 kilometers north of Bamako, where five people were killed.

Last Monday, the terrorist group Islamic State (IS) executed three passengers who were traveling in a vehicle between the cities of Ménaka and Gao, in eastern maliwitness to sporadic clashes between this organization and the GAIM.
