When deputies arrived at Monahan’s residence to investigate the shooting, the man refused to come out, Murphy added, Authorities communicated with him through a 911 operator and in person for about an hour before he was taken into custody.

In the statements that the boyfriend gave, he said that they were part of the “2%” of young people who meet in high school and then get married and emphasized the deep pain he feels: “I want the world to know what a great person he really was and how much he impacted everyone who had the lucky opportunity to be in his life.”.

Monahan was booked into the Warren County Jail on a murder charge. The incident occurred days after 16-year-old Ralph Yarl was shot in Kansas City, Missouri, after going to the wrong house to pick up his younger siblings.
