A TEST OF THE GENERAL

The vote is presented as a kind of rehearsal of the general electionswhich, if they are not advanced, must be held at the end of the year.

The result will show if, facing the generals, the left, which governs in coalition in Spainmaintains a support among voters to continue in power or if the conservatives, possibly agreeing with the extreme right, can be the alternative.

In general, the campaign was highly marked by issues of national interest, such as housing, with the announcement by the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchezof thousands of social housing and aid so that young people with little income can access it, or million-dollar subsidies for the agricultural sector, especially affected by the lack of rain.

Some of these complaints splashed candidates from different parties, who are among those arrested for alleged fraudmainly in voting by mail.

Faced with this unusual situation, the Secretary of State for Communication of the Spanish Government, Frances Vallestoday guaranteed the transparency, security and neutrality of these elections and affirmed that the electoral process in Spain is “one of the safest and guarantors of the world”.

“We believe that citizens will participate as they always have in an electoral process. The incidents detected have shown that the system works perfectly, detects and repairs”, he pointed out at a press conference in which the organizational details of tomorrow’s session were announced.

In Spain The day before the voting is the day of reflectionduring which electoral acts are prohibited.

Therefore, the municipal and regional candidates and some party leaders took the opportunity to regain strength after the campaign with hobbies such as being with the family, going for a walk, shopping or playing sports.
