Petro will march “to the side of the working people” during a mobilization on June 7

Colombian President, Gustavo Petroassured this Wednesday that he will march “to the side of the working people” during a mobilization called on June 7 by the workers’ unions in support of the social reforms of his government.

“This time I won’t be on the balconyI will march with working people and hope that those who voted to make a change in Colombia accompany me now in all the municipalities of the country”said the president in a message posted on his Twitter account.

Added: “This day I will be walking the streets with the march. I invite those who voted for the change and those who want justice in Colombia to march in all municipalities. Not only for the reforms but for a great national march against impunity. Let there be Justice in Colombia!”.

The Unitary Central of Workers (CUT), the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), the Confederation of Colombian Workers (CTC), the Confederation of Pensioners of Colombia (cpc) and the Democratic Confederation of Pensioners (CDP) summoned the “Takeover of Bogotá for social reforms” June 7th.

“The debate on the three social reforms of the Government is increasingly critical (…) On the one hand, due to the media campaign of the economic and political powers of the neoliberal establishment and the extreme right against it, as well as the narrow margin of time that is left to approve them, thanks to the delay of different economic, political and media forcesyes”, assured Francisco Maltés, president of the CUT.

Petro has defended the need for the labor reformsof pensions and health, which are processed in the Congressbe discussed and approved because they will bring well-being for Colombians.

To this end, the president has made two big balconies in the Casa de Nariño, headquarters of the Executive, in which he has defended these reforms before crowds that have come there.
