War in Ukraine: at least three, including a child, were killed in a new terrorist attack in Kyiv

Terror in the Ukrainian capital. Russia launched an airstrike on Kyiv early Thursday morning, killing at least three people, including a child. The strikes on Thursday, which began around 3 am local time (0000 GMT), also injured about 10 people, according to the Kyiv military administration. This week, several Russian rockets were fired towards the Ukrainian capital. On Monday, an unusual daytime attack on the city also forced residents into hiding.

“All detected air targets were destroyed by the forces and means of our air defense,” the Kyiv military administration said on Thursday. “Unfortunately, falling debris causes loss of life and destruction,” she said. According to the same source, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles were used in Thursday’s attack.

At the same time, a city in Russia’s Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, has been under “continuous strikes” for hours, injuring eight people, local governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Thursday. “Of course, the lives of civilians, the population is under threat. First of all, in Chebekino and in the surrounding villages,” he stressed, adding that the evacuation would be organized as soon as “the situation calms down.”

Hundreds of children evacuated from Moscow

Russia said Wednesday it was evacuating hundreds of children from villages as shelling intensified in the Belgorod border region, where the Kremlin deemed the situation “alarming.” At least two people were injured in shelling by the Ukrainian army Wednesday evening in the Russian city of Shebekino, the region’s governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said.

“The night for Shebekino is still tense. Ukrainian soldiers shelled the city for an hour,” he wrote on Telegram, adding that one of the two wounded was in serious condition. The authorities began evacuating children from the border areas of Shebekino and Grayvoron. “The issue of child safety in these two areas is very important,” he said. “All of us adults are very concerned,” he added.

This recognition of Russian concern comes at a time when Moscow appears unable to stop attacks on its soil and Ukraine is finalizing preparations for a counter-offensive against Russian forces.
