The US and the European Union mourn the death of at least 41 women in a prison in Honduras

USA and the European Union (EU) regretted this Tuesday the death of at least 41 women in a brawl and a fire registered in the Women’s Center for Social Adaptation (Cephas), north of Tegucigalpathe capital of Honduras.

The EU regretted the events that occurred in the Honduran prison and its ambassador, James SafeHe said he feltshocked“for the violent act in the prison, which, he said, visited the International Women’s Dayon March 8.

At least 41 women died and a dozen were injured in a fight and a fire in the Cephasaccording to the preliminary figure of Forensic Medicinethe spokesman for the Public ministry, Yuri Mora.

The President of Honduras, Xiomara Castroexpressed himself “shocked” for him “monstrous murder” of the 41 women in Cefas, one fact that he considers was “planned by maras (gangs) in full view and patience of security authorities”.

Five groups from Forensic Medicine, two from the Special Prosecutor for Crimes Against Lifeone of the Special Prosecutor for Human Rights and one of the Prosecutor’s Office coordinate the work “on site” with technical staff from the Police Directorate of Investigationsaccording to a statement from the institution.

The bodies of the deceased will be transferred to the Forensic Medicine of the Public Ministry, in Tegucigalpawhere forensic teams will perform autopsies as quickly as possible to deliver the bodies to their relatives.

The fiscal and police tasks will be oriented to establish and raise evidence to conduct a possible criminal case under the principles of criminal investigation.“, said the Public Ministry.
