Salvage expert says debris found on seabed contains parts of Titan

David Mearns, rescue expert and friend of two of the passengers aboard the submersible Titanassured the British chain “Sky News” on Thursday that the debris found on the seabed includes parts of the missing device.

According to Mearns, they have identified “a landing structure and a rear deck” of the submersible in a debris field near the Titanic, at a depth of about 3,800 meters.

The expert explained to “Sky News” that this information was shared in a WhatsApp group by the president of The Explorers Club, an entity to which the British Hamish Harding and the French Paul-Henry Nargeolet belong, both among the five men who were going aboard the Titan.

This is an unconventional submarine. That rear deck is its pointy end and the landing frame is the little structure it looks like it’s leaning on.”, Mearns stated.

This “means that the hull has not yet been found, but very important parts of the system have been found, and they would not have been found unless (the submersible) was fragmented,” he added.
