AMLO asks not to vote for DeSantis before the new anti-immigrant law in Florida

The Mexican President, Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorasked this Monday not to vote for the governor Ron DeSantisRepublican presidential candidate USAbefore the new anti-immigrant law that came into force last Saturday in Floridastate that he governs.

“We are against the immigration reform of DeSantisthe governor of Floridawho is against migrants, not a vote for DeSantisHe who does not love his country does not love his mother, nor a vote to those who despise the migrants”, expressed the Mexican president in his daily press conference.

Lopez Obrador referred to the SB 1718 in Floridadriven DeSantiswhich establishes restrictions for undocumented immigrants and could generate discrimination based on “racial profiling” that affect other people.

The new regulations requires companies with more than 25 employees to use a program to verify one’s immigration status and makes traveling in a car across state lines with an undocumented person a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

The law also makes it difficult for the undocumented to access medical care and does not know driver’s licenses issued by other states to people without legal immigration status.
