AMLO denies accusations of machismo by opposition presidential candidate Xóchitl Gálvez

President Mexican, Andres Manuel Lopez Obradordenied this Tuesday the accusations of machismo made by the senator Xochitl Galvezfavored to be the opposition presidential candidate, though she insisted that a group of powerful men chose her.

“No, that does heat”, the president responded about the accusations to an express question in his morning press conference.

“I respect her point of view, I already clarified yesterday that she is the candidate of the power mafia”, he added.

His statements come after the exchange of accusations on Monday between the president and Gálvez, of the right-wing National Action Party (BREAD).

The senator accused López Obrador of being macho after the president stated that she will be the candidate for the presidential elections of June 2024 of the alliance Goes through Mexico by the imposition of the employer Claudio X. Gonzalezone of his biggest political rivals.

“You, Mr. President, are a sexist. The only women you respect are the ones you impose, because machos like you are scared of an independent and intelligent woman, in my life no one has given me anything”, she said in a video.

The president now reiterated that the legislator “is the candidateof the former presidents Carlos Salinas de Gortari (1988-1994) and vincent fox (2000-2006), in addition to “Claudio X. González and other influence peddlers”.

For this reason, he remarked that the process to elect the presidential candidate of Va por México, which begins this Tuesday and ends on September 3, is a “simulation” because she is already the chosen one.

“She is the candidate of those who want to return by their privileges, because they want to continue plundering the country, they wanted to deceive that a democratic process was going to take place, when the truth was that the consultation was made up among the top brass and they chose her”, maintained López Obrador.

The confrontation occurs a week after the senator revealed her presidential aspirations, consolidating herself as the favorite to represent the alliance of the BREADhe Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and that of the democratic revolution (PRD).

Meanwhile, the ruling party, the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), has been searching for a successor to López Obrador for two weeks, a process that will be defined on September 6.

If the preferences remain as the polls indicate now, Gálvez could face in the 2024 elections a Claudia Sheinbaumthe former head of government of Mexico City and current favorite of Brunette.
