I never had any relationship with that senator”, Bolsonaro told journalists after giving a statement, although he acknowledged that on December 8, still in power, he received him at his official residence together with the far-right ex-deputy Daniel Silveira.

He explained that the meeting lasted about 20 minutes and that they dealt with political issues, but “in no way about conspiracies” neither “hit of State”, which would not “accepted“, well “always” remained within the constitutional framework.

In various and contradictory statements, Do Val said in February that, at the end of 2022, Bolsonaro and Silveira proposed that he request a meeting with the judge. Alexander de Moraespresident of the Superior Electoral Court and member of the Supreme Court.

According to the senator, he was asked to record the conversation without the judge noticing it and inducing him to accept some alleged irregularity to favor Lula in the elections, which would serve to invalidate the elections and keep Bolsonaro in power.

However, the former president assured that in that meeting “the name of Alexandre de Moraes was not even pronounced” and said that he could not imagine the reasons that led Do Val to his complaint. “It is the senator who must answer for his actions,” he said.

De Moraes himself admitted that last December he met the senator, who revealed to him the alleged plan hatched by Bolsonaro but refused to file a formal complaint.

He told me that it was a matter of “intelligence” and that he could not confirm it, for which I only thanked him, because what is not official does not exist“, the magistrate declared at the time, who described it as”ridiculous” the alleged plot.

However, once the senator made those alleged plans public and faced with the different versions he presented about the case, De Moraes determined that the matter be investigated.

The process has been framed in cases opened after January 8, when a mob of radical Bolsonaristas invaded the headquarters of the Presidencythe Supreme Court and the Parliamentin an attempt to force a coup against Lula, who had assumed power a week earlier.

This has been the fourth statement that Bolsonaro has given to the Police, who are also investigating him for encouraging anti-democratic acts, trying to appropriate some jewelry given by Saudi Arabia that actually belong to the State and alleged fraud with vaccination certificates against covid-19among other matters.

In addition, Bolsonaro was stripped of all his political rights for eight years, for which the electoral Justice considered “abuses of power” during the campaign for the 2022 elections.
