At least nine dead and 25 injured after a bus fell off a cliff in Colombia

At least nine people dead and 25 injured left this Saturday in Colombia the accident of a passenger bus that plunged into an abyss in the department of Santander (northeast), police sources informed EFE.

The company bus Express Brasiliawas traveling with 41 passengers from cucutacapital of Norte de Santander, towards Valleduparon the Atlantic coast, when it left the road and rolled several meters off a cliff at kilometer 58, in the section between Bucaramanga and the town of st albert.

It is not known if the driver could have lost control or it was a technical failure of the vehicle tireexplained the police sources.

Several ambulances arrived at the scene to help the passengers and, according to the lifeguardsSome of them are in serious condition, so it is feared that the number of deaths will increase.

This is the second serious accident that has occurred this week on the roads of Colombia because last Tuesday eight people died when a bus collided with a truck on a highway in the department of La Guajirain the north of the country.

The victims of this other accident were all occupants of a minibus traveling from riohachathe capital of La Guajirato Santa Martacapital of the neighboring department of cupcakeand it was totally destroyed.
