Gabon’s coup junta promises democratic reforms to the country’s political parties

The new transitional president of the coup junta of GabonThe general Brice Oligui Nguemapromised reforms to further democratize the country’s institutions, after meeting with the country’s political parties and civil society leaders.

However, he has not yet mentioned how long the transition period will last, something that, he assured, will be decided jointly with the country’s political parties, which are “free” to “continue their activities” despite the coup.

Since his appointment, the strong man of the military meeting Gabonese has met with civil society leaders, representatives of Gabon’s political parties and a group of some two hundred businessmen, warning them of the need to commit to the “country development”.
