An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 on the Richter scale shook, at 8:48 p.m. local time on Wednesday, the area of ​​the center and north Chileanwith no evidence of victims or serious material damage for the moment, reported the National Seismological Center of the University of Chili.

The agency indicated that the epicenter was recorded 11 kilometers south-east of tongoyabout 430 kilometers north of the capital, in the chilean coast. Likewise, its hypocenter occurred at 45 kilometers deep.

For its part, the newspaper El Mercurio reported that more than 45,000 customers were left without power. Both in Coquimbo and in La Serena, complete populations without electricity are reported.
