A devastating earthquake in southern Moroccowhich has left more than 600 dead and more than 300 injured, has also destroyed large areas of the historic center of Marrakech, an important economic center of the country and a tourist destination.

Many residents and tourists were forced to spend the night outdoors for fear that an aftershock would worsen the situation in the city.
