Earthquake in Morocco: Mohamed VI speaks with the wounded and doctors and donates blood during his visit to the Marrakech hospital

According to public television Al Oulawhich broadcast the images of the royal visit, the monarch was accompanied by the ministers of the Interior and Health, Abdeluafu Laftit and Khalid Ait Taleband visited two units of the hospital, the resuscitation unit and the recovery unit, where the status of the injured was reported.

In the images, you can see Mohamed VI speaking with six patients, men and women, with a teenager and with the mother of an injured child, as well as with several health professionals. Later, he appears donating blood and leaving the hospital, in whose lobby he greeted a group of Moroccans who cheered him.

As reported by the public televisionin the different health centers in the region of Marrakesh 2,171 injured people are hospitalized, of which 484 are in serious condition. The latest official toll of earthquake victims counts 2,901 dead and 5,530 injured.

After the earthquake, which occurred on Friday night and had a magnitude of 7 degrees (the worst in the country’s history in a century), Mohamed VI He also ordered the urgent deployment of the Army with important human resources and air and land logistics and also the establishment of a military hospital.

In 2004, Morocco suffered another earthquake in the Riffian town of Al Hoceima which caused hundreds of deaths. Then, the monarch, who was in the first years of his reign, traveled to the area for several days to care for the victims.
