Migration Colombia says it has no competition in the number of dead or missing in Darién

The person responsible explained that the exchange of information agreed between Migration Colombia and its counterpart Panama at the Memorandum of Understanding signed in April 2021, which contains this and other agreements.

Thus, 772 reports were sent on the behavior of migration in transit through Colombia to Panama between April 2021 and September 2023 to National Immigration Service from Panama.

Reports have been sent since June also to the Intersectoral Commission against Migrant Traffickingcomposed of several ministries, public forces and State institutions, which also had two work sessions on migration in February and June.

The figures

Figures of Panama National Immigration Service -Colombia also does not have records of how many people leave their country for Darién- they report that as of September 27, 399,606 migrants have entered this country so far this year, at a rate of more than 2,000 people per day during this month of September.

Around 25% of the migratory flow in 2023 will be minors, according to official data. There are entire families on the move.

The vast majority of travelers are South Americans, more than 324 thousand, led by Venezuelans -more than 252 thousand-, Ecuadorians -47,724- and Colombians -13,404-. Next are the Antilleans, with more than 39,200, the Asians -27,878- and the Africans -7,389-.
