Israeli offensive will not begin this Sunday, army spokesman says

Anticipating a ground offensive for which Israel says it is preparing, the army on Friday urged civilians in the northern Gaza Strip, or 1.1 million people, to move south and urged them on Saturday “not to delay.”

According to the Israeli army, the center of operations of the Palestinian Islamist movement is in Gaza City, in the north of the territory.

But an army spokesman said on Saturday evening that they were still giving the Palestinians time to withdraw to the south and assured that a ground offensive would not begin on Sunday for humanitarian reasons.
