The head of the ELN recognizes that “it was a mistake” to kidnap Luis Díaz’s father

The guerrilla leader National Liberation Army (THEN), Eliécer Herlinto Chamorro, aka “Anthony Garcia”, acknowledged this Saturday that “it was a mistake” to kidnap the father of the Colombian football player Luis Diazafter it became known that this group is holding him captive in the north of the country.

“It was a mistake to keep the father from Luis Diaz made by him Northern War Front. Lucho is a symbol of Colombia and as such we feel it in THEN”, admitted the guerrilla’s top leader in a statement broadcast on his channels.

García added that Central Command (COCE) from THEN “guided the release of the father of Disputed”something that the Front of Northern Warthe group that kidnapped him, although at the moment they have not given details of when or where this release will take place.

“We hope that operational situations on the ground can be resolvedis the guidance that commanders have to speed up the release”, he concluded.

In a statement, the guerrilla, which opened a peace negotiation with the Government, highlighted that “the fronts of THEN “They are forced to take measures to finance themselves”therefore, “Actions to achieve the economy do not violate the stop fire nor to its protocols.”

This is the first public statement by the top leader of the THEN following Friday night’s statement from his Northern War Frontin which they insinuate that when they committed the kidnapping last Saturday, the members of that group did not know that the kidnapped person was the football player’s father.

“He Northern War Front has commandos with economic missions and one of them carried out a deprivation of liberty, which when reported and verified that he is the father of Lucho Diaz“His release is guided because he is related to the great athlete that all Colombians love.”pointed out the message.

Luis Manuel Díaz and Cilenis Marulandacountries of the Colombian end of the Liverpoolwere kidnapped last Saturday in the city of Barrancas, in the Caribbean department of La Guajira, when traveling in their vehicle. The athlete’s mother was released hours later.

The authorship of THEN in this kidnapping caused surprise, since war and the Government are in a stop fire which at the moment has not been broken, and also tension in the peace process carried out by both parties.
