Israeli army accuses Hamas, images confirm, of shooting at hospitals in Gaza Strip

The proof is in the picture. On Sunday, the Israeli army released images showing Hamas militants firing from a hospital in the Gaza Strip, as well as others revealing the existence of a rocket site located 75 meters from the hospital, under which Hamas tunnels lie.

The Israeli army has been regularly blamed, especially by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN, since it entered the war against Hamas, for bombings in or near health facilities in the Gaza Strip, where many civilians live, including displaced persons who find refuge there.

One of the cases revealed during the press presentation of images from intelligence documents concerns a hospital in the Gaza Strip, the construction of which was financed by Qatar. The images, according to Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari, show “Hamas terrorists shooting at soldiers from a hospital.”

“Terrorist infrastructure in a Qatari hospital”

The video was filmed, according to the same source, during a ground operation by Israeli forces to “destroy Hamas” in the Gaza Strip, from where the Islamist movement launched its deadly attack on Israel on October 7. According to Hagari, the tunnel was also “used for terrorist infrastructure in a Qatari hospital.”

In the second case, which involves an Indonesian hospital north of the Gaza Strip, the facility was built on Hamas “terrorist outposts” and hides the organization’s “command center” underground, the spokesman said, accompanying the photographs. He also provided evidence of what the army believes to be the existence of a missile site located 75 meters from the hospital.

“They know full well that if Israel launches an air strike on this launch base, the hospital will be damaged,” he said, denouncing Hamas’ “cynical use of hospitals.” On Friday, the army announced that it had hit an ambulance outside al-Shifa hospital, the largest in the Gaza Strip, saying it was being “used” by Hamas. As a result of this explosion, 15 people were killed and 60 were injured.

Hamas denies everything

The Hamas government has categorically denied the accusations, accusing Israel of using them as a pretext to attack hospitals. He said he was ready on Sunday night to host an “international commission of inquiry” to inspect the hospitals and ensure they were not being used for military purposes. The tunnels provided by the army are in one case a fuel tank and in another an underground chamber, Hamas claims.

The Israeli representative also presented an audio recording that he said proved Hamas was stealing fuel from hospitals. The amount of fuel delivered to hospitals in Gaza is calculated by international organizations to the nearest liter, Hamas responded, denying the accusation.

Israel’s retaliatory bombing in the Gaza Strip killed 9,770 people, including 4,800 children and 2,550 women, according to Hamas’s latest report on Sunday. According to Israeli authorities, at least 1,400 people were killed on the Israeli side, most of them civilians killed on the same day as the Hamas attack.
