Israel defends its blockade of hospitals in northern Gaza before the WHO in Geneva

The Israeli Ministers of Foreign Affairs (Eli Cohen) and Health (Uriel Menachem Buso) today defended the current siege by their country’s army of several hospitals in northern Gaza, in the face of criticism from the World Health Organization (WHO), with whose senior officials will meet today in Geneva.

“We will tell the WHO director general (Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus) what everyone needs to know: in these hospitals children and women are being used by terrorists as human shields.” said the health minister at their joint press conference in Geneva.

“Terrorists are taking electricity from hospitals, using it for their own tunnels and their terrorist infrastructure.”he added.

His foreign counterpart showed images of the Al Rantisi Children’s Hospital, one of those who suffered attacks from the Israeli army especially in the last week of fighting.

Why do these hospitals need underground tunnels 10, 20, 30 meters below ground? Because they are used as a base by a terrorist organization”he claimed.

“We will show all this data to the WHO, so they can see who they are funding,” Cohen assured.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, accompanied at the press conference by four family members of hostages kidnapped on October 7th, stressed that with the visit to Geneva they also want to continue to press for the “immediate release of all our civilians”.

“October 7th was the worst day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust,” Cohen reiterated this at the press conference, held at the UN’s European headquarters in Geneva.

“The international community should say clearly that Gaza must be liberated from Hamas, not just for the good of Israel, but for the good of the people of the strip themselves,” added Cohen, who assured that “if we don’t win, you will be next, because Islamic jihadism knows no borders.”
