Noboa appoints vice president as Ecuador’s ambassador to Israel for its peace mission

The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboaappointed his vice president this Monday, Abbot Veronicaas the new ambassador of Ecuador in Israel after being entrusted with the mission of promoting peace between Israelis and Palestinians, for which he was ordered to have a permanent residence in Tel Aviv.

In this way, Abad will go to Israel as head of the diplomatic mission of Ecuador in that country, after reluctantly accepting the mission ordered by the president, who sent her permanently to Tel Aviv after creating a distance between the two.

In the decree issued this Monday, Noboa also ordered Abad to begin her duties as ambassador from Sunday, December 10, the day on which she must appear at the Ecuadorian embassy.

Abad’s designation as “contributor to peace between Israel and Palestine” was made on Friday, November 24, in one of Noboa’s first decrees, which has now been expanded this Monday with her appointment to the position of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador.

In a press conference held last Tuesday, Abad announced that he would carry out the task despite expressing his disagreement with the president’s decision, as days before he even pointed out in a video that it was about violence “when abusing power, they order you to die in war”.

In that appearance he requested dialogue with the head of state but was only able to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabriela Sommerfeldwith whom he prepared his landing in Israel.

The distance between Noboa and Abad apparently comes from the election campaign, where they were never seen together in activities prior to the second round, while some statements by the then vice-presidential candidate generated controversy.

After winning the elections, they only agreed on the events in which they both had to be present, such as the handing over of credentials as elected officials and, a few days later, at the presidential change of command ceremony.

She claims that she was not invited to the official lunch held at the Carondelet Presidential Palace after the investiture, and so he went to eat with vendors in a market Quito.

Abad also expressed his disagreement with the pact that the ruling party made with Correismo and the conservative Christian Social Party (PSC) to control the board of directors of National Assembly (Parliament).

In turn, before taking on the role, he surprised himself by going on an international tour without prior notice where he met in Madrid with the president of the Spanish far-right party Vox, Santiago Abascal; and in Lima with the Prime Minister of Peru, Alberto Otarola; In addition to being photographed during the Miss Universe contest in El Salvador with the president, Nayib Bukele.
