Putin defends the development of artificial intelligence after a question from his virtual double

Is it necessary to fear artificial intelligence? “It is impossible to stop the development of artificial intelligence, including the super intellect that begins to feel, distinguish smells, acquire cognitive abilities and develop,” said the president at his annual press conference.

Therefore, he stated: ““We need to put ourselves ahead” of this new technology.

In any case, we must do everything possible to be among the leaders in this direction”, he added.

At the same time, the Russian president admitted that one can talk about possible limitations and self-limitations in the development of artificial intelligence.

“It is possible and necessary to talk about the need to somehow reach an agreement between leaders so as not to create conditions that could generate some kind of danger for humanity,” he said.

He recalled that in his time, when nuclear energy became an atomic bomb, he realized that the threats to those who possessed it increased and negotiations began.

Last October, several media outlets reported that Putin had suffered a sudden deterioration in his health, which is why a lookalike of the Russian president participated in official events and meetings.

The Kremlin responded to this information, which it described as “absurd farces”.
