Pope Francis expresses his “profound sadness” over the shooting at the University of Prague

He Pope Francis today expressed its “deep sadness” over the shooting in University of Praguewhich left 14 dead, in a condolence telegram in which he also conveyed his “spiritual closeness” to those affected.

“Deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and injuries caused by the shooting at Charles University in Prague“His Holiness Pope Francis expresses his spiritual closeness to all those affected by this tragedy.”reads the telegram sent on his behalf by his Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

The pontiff entrusted the deceased to “the loving mercy of Almighty God” and invoked “divine strength and consolation” to the families and friends of the victims.

And he assured the Czech Republic from him “prayer in these difficult times.”

He shootingperpetrated by a Czech student against his classmates, caused the death of 14 peoplein addition to the attacker, and left 25 injured, nine of them seriously.
