Vladimir Putin has launched a brutal combined air campaign on Ukraine, attacking several cities with a range of drones and missiles.

It is considered the most violent airstrike of the conflict so far and is seen as revenge for Kiev’s storm shadow attack on the Novocherkassk major landing ship this week.

Ukraine said more than a dozen strategic bombers carrying Kinzhal, Iskander, S-300, Kh-22 and Kh-32 missiles were used in the strikes, also citing reports of Iranian-supplied Shahed drones and Kalibr cruise missiles.

“We have never seen so many targets on our monitor at the same time,” said air force spokesman Jurij Ignat.

Andriy Yermak, head of Volodymyr Zelensky’s office, said: “Today people were killed by Russian missiles fired at civilian objects and residential buildings.

“The enemy attack continues.”

The affected cities included Kiev, Lviv, Dnipro, Kharkov and Odessa.

More than a dozen powerful explosions were heard in Kiev. One of them hit a tall tower and caused a huge explosion.
