Biden offers “any help” to Japan to recover from earthquake

The President of the USA, Joe Bidenthis Monday offered Japan “any help” needed to recover from the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that affected the country’s western coast, causing shocking damage and triggering a tsunami warning.

In a statement, the president indicated that his Government is in contact with Japanese authorities and stressed that the United States is willing to provide “any assistance” needed to Japan.

“As close allies, the United States and Japan share a deep bond of friendship that unites our people. “Our thoughts are with the Japanese people in these difficult times,” said the American president.

A strong earthquake struck Ishikawa Prefecture on the west coast of central Japan on Monday, forcing a tsunami warning to be activated across much of the archipelago, in addition to causing significant damage and leaving at least six people buried under the rubble. .

The earthquake, which was felt as far away as Tokyo, occurred on the Noto Peninsula at 4:10 pm (7:10 am GMT) and the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) initially estimated the tremor to have been magnitude 7.4, although it later revised the increase to magnitude in two tenths.

Likewise, the agency initially said the quake occurred close to the ground and later placed its hypocenter at a depth of 16 kilometers.
