War between Israel and Hamas: France will play a decisive role in delivering medicine to hostages in the Gaza Strip

To mark one hundred days since the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel, which killed about 1,140 people on the soil of the Jewish state on October 7, as well as the hundredth day of the captivity of about a hundred hostages remaining in Gaza (out of 250 people were kidnapped), this Sunday in Israel There will be major demonstrations. The families, particularly through the Bring Them Home Now collective, continue to put pressure on the government of Benjamin Netanyahu, which continues its war to destroy the Palestinian Islamist movement through shelling of the Gaza Strip. After a humanitarian truce between Israel and Hamas in late November and early December, which allowed the release of about a hundred hostages (including five of the eight French-Israelis kidnapped), the case seemed frozen.

Causing controversy within the country, Netanyahu announced the delivery of medical supplies for the hostages “in the coming days.” At least a third of the captives have chronic illnesses and require treatment, according to a report compiled by a group of families. “Many others were injured” during the abduction and require treatment, the report said. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office reported that an agreement had been reached with Qatar, which has direct ties to Hamas leaders, to allow the supply of medicines.

Undefined operation

But France also played a role in the progress, according to a source close to the matter. However, Bibi Netanyahu does not say a word about this… which irritates Paris a little. What role? French agents reportedly carried out “jewelry work” with the Qataris to determine the exact care and medication needs of each hostage, depending on their pathology. In particular, the diplomats of the Center for Crisis and Support (CDCS) at the Quai d’Orsay are responsible for the case, and they maintain contact with the main characters and the families of the hostages.

According to this source, the first delivery operations, carried out jointly with Qatar and in agreement with the Israeli authorities, could take place as early as this Sunday, January 14, or Monday. But, unfortunately, this is not guaranteed. In particular, Hamas itself must resolve them. However, on Friday a source close to the Islamist movement confirmed to AFP that negotiations were taking place, but did not express a positive view of their completion. Logistical aspects, far from simple in a narrow area and in the midst of war, will not be fully resolved. One thing is certain: for the hostages who have been suffering for a hundred days, there is an emergency situation.
