Macron condemns “cowardly” Russian attack that killed two French aid workers in Ukraine

The French president, Emmanuel Macronthis Friday condemned a “cowardly and outrageous” Russian attack that caused the death of two French aid workers in Ukraine and left three others injured.

A few minutes earlier, the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stephane Séjournéconfirmed the two deaths, in addition to three other French aid workers being injured.

Russia will have to answer for its crimes”Séjourné highlighted on the same social network.

The French anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office announced that it will open an investigation into these two deaths, due to a voluntary attempt on the life of a person protected by international humanitarian law.

It will be the gendarmes from the brigade to combat crimes against humanity who will lead this investigation, which is the tenth that the French anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office has opened since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, in February 2022.

The attack, according to the French press, was carried out using drones on Thursday afternoon in the Kherson region, in the area of ​​the city of Berislav, and the Ukrainian authorities announced the opening of an investigation.

The humanitarian workers belonged to the association Entraide Protestante Suisse (EPER), according to the newspaper Le Monde.
