War in Ukraine: Zelensky said he visited the village of Robotain on the southern front line

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said this Sunday that he had visited troops in the village of Robotin on the southern front line, which Kyiv liberated this summer, raising hopes – albeit disappointed – of a breakthrough.

“Zaporozhye region. Robotine. Location of the 65th Mechanized Brigade. I spoke with the defenders, thanked them and presented them with state awards,” the head of state said on social networks. “I’m honored to be here today.”

One of the difficult moments at the front

The Ukrainian president posted a video on Facebook showing him in uniform walking into a meeting with soldiers in a dark, basement-like room. “It is a great honor for me to be here today to reward you, because on your shoulders lies a difficult and decisive mission – to repel the enemy and win this war,” Vladimir Zelensky told the fighters.

“I wish you victory, I want to reward you and I hope that you will do everything to quickly achieve this victory,” he added.

Robotain was recaptured from Russian forces last August in an assault led by the 65th Brigade, which Kyiv hailed as a major success in the counteroffensive against Russian forces. But since then, the small village has been under constant attack and is one of the main hot spots on the southern front.
