Lasso remembers his friend Piñera as “a great man, loyal to democratic principles”

The former president of Ecuador Guilherme Lasso (2021-2023) remembered his friend Sebastian Piñera as “a great man, loyal to the principles of the democratic world”, after the former Chilean president (2010-2014 and 2018-2022) died this Tuesday in a helicopter accident.

The condolence message was Ecuador’s first expression of condolences over Piñera’s death, in anticipation of the Government of Daniel Noboa.

Piñera died this Tuesday when the helicopter he was apparently piloting crashed into the Rengo Lakein the south of the country, his office reported, in an accident that also injured three other people who, according to Chilean media, are relatives of the former president.
