Your statements come after the ‘March for our democracy‘of around 200 groups under the alliance’Units‘ which took place on Sunday in more than 100 cities to denounce that “free voting is at risk”due to the violence of organized crime and the reforms promoted by the president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

Sheinbaum stated that democracy is a “noun element”for the biggest elections in history, with more than 20,700 public positions at stake, including the presidency and the entire federal Congress.

In this sense, he stated that it took many years to defend democracy in Mexico and what he will seek is to expand this right, not only to elect rulers, but to promote referendums, “as happens in U.Sas occurs in Europe”.

In other words, public consultations are also part of our democracy. That’s what we want, to be encouraged, promoted“, added the governor’s candidate National Regeneration Movement (Morena) and her allies, the Labor Parties (PT) and Green Ecologist of Mexico (PVEM).

Furthermore, he denied that authoritarianism exists in Mexico.

If there was a single thought, we would all live in an authoritarian country and not. Fortunately, freedom of expression, assembly and demonstration are allowed and this is something that will continue in our country.“, he promised.

Regarding the ‘March for our democracy’, he said that it shows that the country exercises the right to freedom of expression, as well as leading with civility.

But he spoke out against “dirty war” that he notices on social media against López Obrador’s government.

Because it has to be a campaign of positive proposals, not a dirty war, which doesn’t help democracy” he claimed.

Furthermore, he anticipated that he will file a formal complaint with the National Electoral Institute (INE).

We want the election to take place in a positive atmosphere, with proposals. We do not believe that the dirty war should be part of the next elections“, he said.
