Russia summons US ambassador for “attempted interference”, says Russian Foreign Ministry

The Russian government accuses three American NGOs specializing in education of “launch programs and projects of anti-Russian orientation with the support of the embassy” and to try “hiring agents of influence under the guise of educational and cultural exchanges”.

These three NGOs were declared “undesirable” in Russiaaccording to the ministry.

An official note was delivered to the ambassador, asking her to cease all assistance to the activities of these NGOs”, accused of “promoting attitudes and values ​​alien to Russian society”, said the institution.

Moscow also warned Tracy that any “subversive actions” and the “spread of disinformation” must be avoided ahead of the March 15-17 presidential elections, in which Vladimir Putin is likely to be re-elected. The Russian president is running in these elections in the absence of real opposition.

The ministry threatened to expel US embassy staff if they were “involved in such actions”.
