At least nine dead in southern Lebanon after two Israeli attacks

At least six people were killed this Wednesday in an Israeli bombing of the city of Tair Harfa, in southern Lebanon, while a second attack killed three paramedics who had gathered in Naqoura to help the first, the National News Agency reported ( ANN).

In Tair Harfa, a missile hit a house, completely destroying it and causing the death of six people who have not yet been identified, although rescue teams are still looking for more people under the rubble, according to state media.

Shortly afterwards, a second attack hit a cafeteria in the city of Naqoura, also in the south of the country, where three health professionals from a foundation linked to the Shiite Amal group, an ally of the Hizbullah group, died.

Paramedics gathered in front of the establishment to participate in relief operations in Tair Harfa, ANN explained.

Several people were also injured in the Naqoura attack, the second against a medical target in less than 24 hours, after another Israeli bombing this morning caused seven deaths in a health center in Habariye (south).

However, the Jewish State claims that its action last night was directed against “terrorists” from the Sunni organization Jamaa Islamiya (JI).

For its part, Hezbollah responded by launching dozens of projectiles against the Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona, where one person died, amid one of the biggest outbreaks of violence in almost half a year of border hostilities between the parties.

Israel and the Shiite movement have been involved in an intense crossfire since October 8, the day after the outbreak of war in Gaza, and these are their worst clashes since the war they fought in 2006.
