Nuevo León: massive kidnappings by organized crime reach the Mexican state

Mass kidnappings allegedly perpetrated by organized crime have reached the northern state of Nuevo León Mexicowhere several members of four families, totaling 17 people, were kidnapped and transferred to the neighboring state of Tamaulipas, where they are already wanted by Mexican Army agents.

This Saturday, the commands of the Fourth Military Region and the Seventh Military Zone, which cover the states of Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leonissued a statement regarding the recent events recorded in the municipalities of Salinas Victoria and Ciénega de Flores.

“In line with the lines of investigation related to these events, 100 agents belonging to the Special Forces Units left the Mexico Citytransported by aircraft bound for the city of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, in order to assist in the search and location activities of people deprived of liberty in these municipalities”, indicates the note.

The report highlighted that it is known that the victims were transferred to that city, on the border with the United States.

It was also reported that in light of the events, aerial patrolling was reinforced in the aforementioned municipalities with the arrival of a helicopter from the Mexican Air Force and one from the National Guard.

On Friday, local media published the alleged kidnapping of 17 people from four families at the hands of members of armed commandos who invaded their homes; several minors were mentioned among the victims.

However, the state Attorney General’s Office did not confirm the facts, choosing to reserve the information.

These massive kidnappings recorded in Nuevo León are in addition to those that occurred in Culiacán and Mazatlán, Sinaloa, where 66 members of different families were kidnapped on March 22.

A day later, state authorities reported that a total of 58 of the 66 kidnapped people had been located, although the Secretary of Public Security for the state of Sinaloa, Gerardo Mérida Sánchez, indicated that it could not be strictly speaking about kidnapping, since those Those who attended did not make any complaints.

Meanwhile, the president MexicanAndrés Manuel López Obrador, attributed, last Monday, the kidnapping of 66 people to a gang clash last Friday, March 22, by alleged members of criminal groups, although during Saturday and Sunday 58 appeared, including 22 girls and children.
