Mexico will require a visa for Peruvians wishing to enter its territory

Mexico will require a visa application for Peruvian citizens who wish to enter Mexican territory, according to an agreement published this Friday in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).

Available was approved by the Mexican Minister of the Interiorwill be temporary and will come into force within 15 days, specifies said legal norm.

In 2012, Mexico eliminated the visa requirement for Peruvians visiting the country for up to 180 days.

Article 1 of the agreement details: “The temporary application of the visa in the ordinary passports of nationals of the Republic of Peru who intend to enter the territory of the U.S “Mexicans, as Visitors, remain without authorization to carry out paid activities.”

Meanwhile, article 3 explains that the Secretariat of foreign relations “will carry out joint actions with the government of Republic of Peru guarantee safe, orderly and regular migratory flows that allow, in due course, to eliminate the visa requirement for nationals of that country.”

In its consideration part, the standard recalls that on November 9, 2012, the Government of the United Mexican States notified the Government of the Republic of Peru of its decision to remove visa requirement in passports ordinary to Peruvian nationals, on condition that they remain as a visitor without authorization to carry out remunerated activities, with effect from that date.

However, the text adds – paragraphs later – that “a Substantial increase of Peruvian nationals who enter the national territory under the protection of the aforementioned decision, with the purpose of Do activities in addition to those permitted by the Visitor’s condition of stay without authorization to carry out remunerated activities.”
