Iran’s threats against Israel: how far can Tehran go in response?

“The Zionist regime cannot avoid (consequences) the harm it causes. He is exposed and he knows well what will happen,” Iranian General Hossein Salami, head of the Revolutionary Guard, warned on Friday. Following Monday’s attack on the consular annex of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, Syria, Tehran increased promises of reprisals against Israel, which is accused of carrying out the strikes but which has neither confirmed nor denied responsibility for the attack.

The aggression killed seven members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the ideological army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, including two high-ranking officers: General Mohammad Reza Zahedi and Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, commanders of the elite Quds Force. “Rest assured that an Iranian response to the attack on the Damascus consulate is inevitable,” Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Lebanese Hezbollah, which is financed by the Iranian regime, said Friday.
