Indian elections 2024: one of the biggest general votes on the planet begins

The two main political forces in these elections are the coalition of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Modi, known as National Democratic Alliance (NDA), and the opposition bloc National Inclusive Alliance for India’s Development (INDIA), which together with other opponents make up the formation of the dynasty Nehru-Gandhithe Congress Party.

These are the second longest elections held so far in India, only preceded by the elections that the country held after its independence from the British Empire in 1947, which lasted four months, between October 25, 1951 and February 21, 1952.
