STRAIGHT. Iran-Israel: strong explosions are heard near Iranian base, Tehran says drones have been shot down

  • Yesterday the Israeli army launched deadly new attacks on the Gaza Strip, which has been besieged and devastated by more than six months of war.
  • Loud explosions were heard near a base in Iran on Friday morning, possibly indicating a possible Israeli attack.
  • The Israeli army does not want to make any comments “at this time.” However, this indicates that warning sirens were activated in northern Israel.
  • The United States and Britain have stepped up their sanctions against Iran, which carried out a drone and missile attack on Israel on April 13 following a deadly attack attributed to Israel on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
  • Israeli leaders have threatened to respond to the first direct attack in history. The head of Iranian diplomacy, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, said Iran would make Israel “regret” any attack on its territory.

According to Iran’s Irna news agency, there was no serious damage after the explosions occurred.

Iran’s official IRNA news agency announced this Friday that “no serious damage” was reported after the dawn explosions.

“After the activation of air defense in certain regions of the country,” “no large-scale destruction or explosions have been recorded,” the agency said, based on information provided by its journalists. She clarified that “no information indicating the launches of missile defense systems” was received.

Tehran says nuclear sites near Isfahan are ‘completely safe’

Drones shot down, but ‘no missile attack yet’, Iran says

Several drones were “successfully shot down” by Iranian air defenses early Friday, but there is “no information yet” about a possible missile attack, an Iranian space agency spokesman said.

“At this time, there have been no air attacks outside of Isfahan or in other parts of the country,” Hossein Dalirian said in a message published on X after US television reported an Israeli attack on Iran.

“Several micro-aircraft were successfully shot down by the country’s air defense; there is no documentary evidence of a missile attack yet,” he said.

Fars News Agency reported that three explosions were heard early on Sunday morning near the Iranian army’s Shekari air base in the northwestern city of Isfahan (centre).

According to American television, Israel has launched an attack on Iran

Israel could launch an attack on Iran in response to Iranian strikes on its territory over the weekend, several US media outlets reported this Friday, citing US officials. ABC, CBS and CNN, as well as other media outlets, reported the strikes early Friday morning Middle Eastern time, citing U.S. officials.

CNN clarified that the Israeli attack was not aimed at nuclear facilities, again reporting this to a US official.

The White House had no immediate comment.

The Israeli army does not want to give “any comments” yet

The Israeli army told AFP it had “at the moment” no comment on the explosions reported early Friday near a military base in central Iran.

“We have no comment at this time,” an army spokesman said, as Israel vowed to respond to the unprecedented attack launched by Tehran against Israel over the weekend. On Friday morning, the Israeli army also announced that warning sirens had been activated in northern Israel.

However, this indicates that warning sirens were activated in northern Israel.

Strong explosions near base in Iran, possible Israeli attack

Three explosions were reported early Friday near a military base in central Iran, with a senior US official citing an Israeli attack in retaliation for unprecedented drone and missile strikes on Israel over the weekend.
