Iranian state television reported this Friday sound of “strong explosions” in the central province of Isfahanwhich he attributed to the downing of drones by the country’s air defenses, amid tensions over a possible reprisal from Israel to Iran.

Isfahan is home to missile production centers and nuclear facilities.

Iranian media also reported the sound of explosions in Tabriz, a city located in the west of the country.

For its part, the state agency IRNA reported that air defenses were activated in “several provinces” after “strong explosions” were heard in the center of the country.

The Mehr agency, in turn, shared a video in which air defenses are allegedly seen firing at night.

Amid confusion over what is happening, aviation authorities have suspended flights in at least three cities across the country, including Tehran and its international airport.

In the United States, a senior official told ABC that Israel launched several missiles at Iran on Friday morning.

This aggression would be in retaliation for Iran’s attack with hundreds of missiles and drones last Saturday against Israel, which in turn was a response to the bomb attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, in which seven members of the Revolutionary Guard died.

Israel stated that it will respond to the Iranian attack, to which Tehran raised the tone of its warnings and, in turn, assured that it will take measures against possible Israeli retaliation.

Iran warned yesterday that it could review its “nuclear doctrine” – which until now dictated the exclusively civilian use of this energy – if Israel threatens to attack its atomic centers.
