Colombia: three dead, including an 8-year-old boy, in attack by gunmen in Barranquilla

Three people died, including an eight-year-old child, as a result of the attack by gunmen that took place in the last few hours in the city of Barranquillain the north of Colombialocal authorities reported this Saturday.

The commander of Barranquilla Metropolitan Policethe general Herbert Benavides Valderramaconfirmed that the events occurred in Villanueva neighborhoodsector that in recent months has been the scene of clashes between organized crime gangs fighting for control of the area to manage the drug trafficking.

“Two people were killed with fire gun. Unfortunately a random projectile during the killer action “This impacted the humanity of a minor who was taken to a health center, but due to the severity of his injuries he lost his life,” said the officer.

Furthermore, the general Benavides announced the formation of a special investigation team with the Prosecutor’s office is reward of 30 million pesos ($7,600 today) to find those responsible for the events.

He Villanueva neighborhoodwhere the triple homicide occurred, is a depressed sector located close to the river Sconemain Colombiaand which is used by drug trafficking gangs as a drug circulation corridor.

The new attack by gunmen comes amid clashes between criminal organizations Los Rastrojos and Los Costeños who operate in the city and who precisely in that sector caused the murder of five people last year during another armed raid.
