The Atlantic will have an above-average hurricane season this year, with the possibility of up to 13 hurricanes, of which up to 7 could be major, the United States National Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported this Wednesday. Joined.
The government agency said the La Niña phenomenon and higher-than-average ocean temperatures are the main drivers of tropical activity in the season, which runs from June 1 to November 30.
NOAA estimated that a total of between 17 and 25 storms could form this year, that is, with winds above 62 kilometers per hour.
