Israel bombs displacement camp near Rafah, killing at least 35 people

At least 35 people died and dozens were injured on Sunday in the bomb attack in Israel against a center for displaced people nearby Rafa, in the south of the Gaza Strip, informed the Ministry of Health of the Hamas government in the Palestinian territory. The Gaza Civil Defense confirmed the attack on that center, and indicated that it houses around 100 thousand people, and the Palestinian Red Crescent indicated that the location “had been designated by the occupation [israelí] as a humanitarian zone.”

The Israeli army said on Monday it had launched airstrikes against a camp Hamas in the city of Rafais that is aware of reports that civilians were injured in the incident.

“Not long ago, An Israeli army plane attacked a Hamas camp in Rafa where a significant number of terrorists Hamas were operating,” the army said in a statement.

It added that it “is aware of reports that indicate that, as a result of the attack and the fire that was set, several civilians in the area were affected.”

The Ministry of Health of Link stated in a statement that The Israeli attacks “claimed the lives of 35 martyrs and left dozens injured, most of them children and women”.

The Israeli army added that “the attack was carried out against legitimate targets in accordance with international law, with the appropriate use of ammunition and based on accurate intelligence data that indicated that Hamas “used the area.”

The Palestinian presidency accused Israel on Monday of “deliberately attacking” that center for displaced people in Rafa.

“The carrying out of this atrocious massacre by the Israeli occupation forces is a challenge to all legitimate international resolutions,” he added.
