US: woman admitted to pretending to have cancer to get more than $ 100,000 in donations

Amanda Christine Riley, 36, confessed that she pretended for more than six years to suffer from cancer in order to receive $ 100,000 in donations in USA.

Riley said her plan began in 2012, when she lived in San José. It is there that he proposed to obtain money through donations by telling that he allegedly suffered from Hodgkin’s disease. The fraud lasted until January 2019.

For everyone to believe, the American woman documented her “illness” on social media. He created a blog where he told what he suffered in hospitals from the “effects” of chemotherapy and even shaved his head.

At the same time, Riley created a website where people could directly donate money to her. In addition, he organized more special fundraising events.

All the money went to his bank account and he managed to get $ 106,272 from more than 400 contributions.

In February of next year his final sentence will be known.
